IE and AOL

To flush the disk cache in IE and AOL, you should EXIT IE or AOL, then click on the START menu at the bottom of your screen.  Open the "Control panel" item by clicking on it. (NOTE: If you are using the "classic" menu style on Windows XP, or an earlier version of Windows, you may not see control panel as an option in the START menu - in this case, first select "settings" from the START menu, then select "Control Panel").

Select the "Internet Options" item, then click on the "Delete Files" in the "Temporary Internet Files" (middle of window).  A small dialog box will open up - click the "delete all offline content" box so that is is checked, then click OK.

This may run some time as it deletes all of the data in your disk cache (if you have never cleared your cache before, there may be a LOT of stuff out there to be deleted...).  Since this process WILL  delete this cached data from your disk, you should see your disk light flashing, etc., and this is normal.  Just wait for the processing to complete.

Once completed, click "OK"  to close the Internet Options dialog box.  Your cache should now be empty (and will begin to fill up again as soon as you access the internet again).
