What are cookies?

Cookies provide a place to 'save' information and pass it between different web pages on the same site.  Cookies generated for the Liners By Vaughn web site are available only for other pages from our site - the data we save in our 'cookie' is not available to pages from any other web site.  So if you leave our site and view any other site, our cookie data will be hidden from those pages, until you return to our site, when we will be able to access our cookie again.

By the same token, any cookies generated by a different web site are not available to pages on our web site - so we can't look at data saved by any other site.

The cookies generated by our site are "temporary", in that they are automatically deleted when you exit your browser (not when you change sites - the cookies will "go away" only when you exit your browser completely), or when you actually place your order.

We do not keep any confidential information in our cookie - just item data (fabric number, name of basket, quantity, edge treatment, etc).  So if anyone were to somehow "hack" into your computer (which should never happen) and somehow access your cookies while your browser is still "open" (so our cookie has not yet been deleted, which should also never happen), there is no useful information in the cookie - just a list of the fabrics and styles that you are thinking about ordering.  None of your personal information (address, name, telephone, credit card, etc.) is ever placed into our cookie, so any "hacker" will gain no useful information even if (s)he is successful at circumventing all protections.

Why are they required by this site?

We use cookies to save your order information as you 'build' your order.  Each item that you select to be added to your order is added to our 'cookie'. That way, we can keep track of your entire order until the time that you are done adding/removing items and actually send the order to us.

When you display your order, the cookie is read by the order display page, and formatted and displayed so that you can see what's in your order at that point in time.

When you finally submit the order for processing, your personal information - which is not added to the cookie, but pulled directly from the web page - is merged with the information from the cookie (which is your order data), and sent to be processed.

Even IF somebody else could read our cookie (which they can't), the only data that they could access are item number, quantity, style, and price information of the items that you have selected.  None of your personal data is in the cookie.  Therefore, there is no risk of the "hacker" gaining access to your name, address, credit card number, etc. from our cookie.

Without cookies, we are unable to build your order. we have no place to keep the items that you have selected.

If your browser is set to disable cookies, or if you are using software that blocks cookies, we can not process your order, because we have no way to "remember" the items that you select. Please click here for instructions to enable cookies , or disable your blocking software (at least for our site) if you wish to order.
